Saturday - August 1, 2009 - To kick off the Vacation Bible School (VBS) week, Ambassador Church invited the Brea neighborhood out for an Ice Cream Social. They served up tons of ice cream, sundaes with all the fixings, and floats. We helped play with all the kids! God blessed us with a perfect breeze too.
~~~ Ambassador ended their VBS week with a great beach party at the Seabridge Lagoon in Huntington Beach on Friday, August 7, 2009 ~~~
Saturday - August 1, 2009 - After Sammi had survived her blood work, she and I went to Costco to buy some junk food to cheer her up. And guess who we saw in the parking lot? It was great seeing you again Linda! Isn't retirement wonderful?!?!?
Doesn't this baby look like Karissa? Jean and Thomas must be so proud, even if it isn't your baby! hee hee hee
Sunday - August 2, 2009 - After church, the Lais and us went over to Mitsuwa's food court for lunch. To our surprise, we ran into Jeff, Julie, and their girls. They were in the area for their basketball league. I can't believe how much their girls have grown up, and the parents still look the same as they did two decades ago! God has blessed them with youth!
Thursday - August 6, 2009 - Today, I felt extremely energetic and motivated to get a few chores done. I washed three loads of laundry, swept, vacuumed, and then mopped the floor. So much for me not doing anything for three weeks. Sorry Dr. Newman, I was determined to do something, anything! I'm just sooooo glad I didn't spring another leak! I'd managed to finish all of that just in time to have lunch with Bobbie at Hof's Hut in Torrance (http://hofshut.com/). Every time I come here, I think about the time my family and I met Bob Hope (http://bobhope.com/), about ten years ago. Good times then, and more good times now. Thanks for hanging out with me, Bobbie. You turn average days into special days for me. I look forward to more BS time together. hee hee hee ;-D
On Friday, August 7, 2009 - Garrick went with Hank to Hippie Fest at Gibson Amphilheatre in the Universal City Walk (http://www.universalstudioshollywood.com/). They said they had a really good time at the concert. I'm so glad they were able to spend some quality time together. It's been a long time since we've seen him. Hope you two boys get together more often.
Friday - August 7, 2009 - Sammi was itching to go out, so we picked up her friend, Tyler, and drove to Cerritos. We went to Guppies Restaurant and pigged out on shaved ice with strawberries and bananas, popcorn chicken with chili sauce and sweet and sour sauce, and washed it all down with our milk tea/coffee drinks.
Saturday - August 8, 2009 - DaWongz graciously hosted a BBQ to welcome James back. He is doing very well now. He's back to living in his own home now, full time. He'll be back to his normal schedule in no time.
Sunday - August 9, 2009 - After church service at SBCC, Dave, Kathy, the Lais, and our family ate lunch at TGIF. I'm so glad that TGIF is still offering their appetizers for half price on Sundays. Sammi is still hooked on their special Jack Daniel's chicken wings and sweet potato fries! It was fun watching Dave and Kathy, they must have tried out one of everything! They ordered so many dishes, it was almost a buffet! We had to help them eat it though. I hoped they enjoyed their meal, because we sure did! hee hee hee And sorry Dave, we know how much you love Kathy's cooking, but she needs a break sometimes too. Hey Matthew, we hope you'll join us soon. Look at the beautiful girls you could have lunch with!!! What could I say, but I'm a bit bias!!!
August 10-14, 2009 - The North High School Pep Squad was off to UC Santa Barbara for their cheer camp this year. It was four straight days of being perky, dancing, cheering, screaming, pranking, eating, snacking, but not much sleeping. Guess that's what young people do. Must be nice to have so much energy! Those were the days..... I'm just glad the girls had a fun week of bonding, and they all made it home uneventfully. Thank you, God, for answering the prayers of worried parents. We'll just have to trust in Him to keep them all safe from harm.
